howcouldiknow: I kind of feel bad for the @ symbol.  I mean it ruins designs with its large obtrusive nature.  Maybe a font could be designed with a nice @ symbol.  But probably not.  So then we do the {at} or [at] etc. thing which seems mildly(?) pretentious.   The {} and [] s are traditionally used to keep spammers away from your email addy online if I’m thinking in a historically...
