What do you think? Is all the internet too WEB 2.0 these days? Do we have too many websites? Does this need more “BACKGROUND INFORMATION”? Should I put up our “BIO” and “CV”? Do you want to read a list of “PREVIOUS SHOWS”? Where do you get your information on upcoming concerts that you want to…
perhaps this is a rhetorical question without need of an actual answer, since there really isn’t a way to respond aside from reblogging (which normally i hate to do). but i will oblige with an answer none the less. furthermore, maybe one extra person will see this and get into Skeletons (i will use this as an attempt to grab @shawnbrackbill’s attention) which is great because i can’t sing their praises enough.
On that note - i will admit, when i first became aware of skeletons, i though it was near impossible to find any information out about them and it was a little frustrating. however, their records were incredible and albeit accessible, and being in on the secret of even knowing about them was exciting. after finally stumbling across the blog here on tumblr, i can’t think of a band with a better internet presence - that is, to my tastes. if you go back through the blog a few pages, you will see that they are adequately archiving and documenting their “history” by way of live or music videos/sounds that deal with what the band is doing and saying. I think this is a great way to cultivate an image to the public; a great way to communicate what you want to. along the way, you will also get snippets of things that the band (well… Matt…) finds interesting and as a musician myself, i find this incredibly endearing and interesting. i find so many things through certain musician’s, whose work i appreciate, blogs if they keep one. i would say this is an excellent addition to a musician’s personal blog. it keeps dialogue of music running and it is also enriching to see what excites someone you really love.
that said, i don’t think it’s necessary for a band to have to divulge all their information or have a web presence, as long as the records are adequately available and you know when and where to catch them. it’s kind of fun to wonder about the people who make up the band and have that little nagging suspicion.
so in short, keep up the good work Matt (can i call you matt if i don’t know you?), i really enjoy your offerings to the web; everyone else should really take some time to listen to skeletons if you haven’t (sorry to sound like a broken record everyone).
